Working as an advisor and in the field of college access has been profoundly impactful for my career. I started a Masters in English program this fall with the goal of teaching and working with transfer access at the community college level. I can honestly say I would not be on this path if it wasn’t for my experience advising with CollegePoint!
As the first in my family to earn a bachelor’s degree, I know how foreign the process of applying to college can be and how overwhelming it is to complete all the right steps. Additionally, finding the right fit after being admitted can be just as hard as the application process itself! It’s been a joy to share my experience with the students I advise. I want them to be informed so that they can choose the college path that is perfect for them. Whether I’m assisting with financial aid appeals or preparing them for their first semester of college, I’ve been endlessly inspired by my advisees’ passion. I’m proud to be entering my third year as a CollegePoint advisor and have been overwhelmed by the tenacity of this year’s cohort who refuse to let a global pandemic stand in the way of their college dreams.
